Who are the voices behind the mic?
Christie and Melissa are long time friends who have embarked on many adventures with one another. They have volunteered as ‘Citizens on Patrol’ in their small Canadian town, helping to keep their streets safe. Together, they love all things creepy. Not only do they love solving escape rooms in record speed, but they have also created a few escape rooms of their own that have been loved by many. In 2021, the natural progression seemed to be to start a true crime podcast with one another. Buried Motives is a podcast that doesn’t hold back, while still being respectful to the victims and their families. Christie and Melissa love what they do, and when you listen, they hope you will love it too!
Christie
Christie is a firm believer that every victim’s story deserves to be told, and that every dirtbag should be examined in detail to try and grasp an understanding of how a newborn baby can grow up to become a complete monster. Christie can be decorating a wedding cake or spending time with her three daughters one moment, and then exploring the disturbing minds of the world’s most sinister criminals the next. After always having a captivation with true crime, Christie is passionate about researching, compiling notes, and then discussing what she has found with her co-host, Melissa.
Typically being light-hearted in nature, sometimes particular dirtbags can allow her red hair to show through!
Melissa
Melissa has always been fascinated with the science of crime scene investigation. As a young woman breaking into the world, Melissa began to pursue a career as a forensic pathologist before life intervened. After a not-so-quick detour into nursing, marriage and motherhood (x4), she is exploring that passion once again. This time, as a fanatical researcher next door, who loves to dive deep into the reasons why a person commits unthinkable acts.
With a strong belief in the interconnectedness of nature and nurture, Melissa loves a friendly debate about what really drives a person to become a dirtbag. It is only with a true understanding of the ‘whys’ can we do our best to protect future victims.
